Satellite Internet

Using a satellite dish signal to access the internet, satellite internet provides on average 500 kbps downstream and 50 kbps upstream speeds. Ideal for rural internet users who don't have access to cable or DSL internet, satellite internet provides the same high speed, broadband access. As long as your home has a clear view of the southern sky, you can use satellite internet anywhere in the continental U.S.

Like cable and DSL, satellite internet is "always on" and doesn't tie up existing signals (lines). While satellite internet is available for business use, it is advised it be restricted to small businesses, as the connection is not meant for heavy upload traffic (for example, web and FTP server hosting). Likewise, satellite internet access does not support home networking, remote control software or voice over IP applications. In short, satellite internet is better suited to home use.
